G Hickey Design is based in Glasgow and for now just consists of me, Georgina. Craft and interior design have always been passions of mine; at 14 my 'happy place' was our local Laura Ashley shop. I started the general foundation year at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2o14, with the idea of continuing in graphic design, however everything changed when I was given a wallpaper design brief. I moved into textile design and haven't looked back since.

I specialised in screen-printed textiles for interiors at university and continued my practice as a designer in residence after graduating, selling odd pieces here and there under G Hickey Design. During the pandemic I was made redundant from my part-time job and didn't have access to the print room to keep up my hand-printing, and so I started to explore working digitally. I relaunched G Hickey Design on 1/10/20 with cushions, lampshades and table linen available in four digitally printed designs.

I still make my cushions, lampshades and table linen myself but have also expanded my product range with storage bags and washbags that are made externally in the UK. I have also released new designs; including a limited edition exclusive print for the V&A Dundee.

Rather than having a specific visual inspiration, I enjoy collecting images from a wide range of sources, then bringing their elements together to ensure a unique perspective. However, hand-drawn lines, geometric structures and bold colours are always central to my designs.

I truly believe in the positive effects of a well-decorated home and my mission is to create interior accessories that are versatile, timeless and cherished.
